Vuelta a Espana 2014 Stage 3 Highlights

On Monday August 25, 2014 will be held the third stage of the Vuelta a Espana. This journey begins and ends in Cadiz Arcos de la Frontera. There is a scene with a hilly course. The finish also sits on a hill. What are the favourites for victory in the third stage of the Tour of Spain in 2014? Which TV channels can be followed live at this stage?

Starting Point: Cadiz

The beginning of the third stage in Cadiz. This is the capital of the province, which is located in Andalusia.The city of Cadiz has about 130,000 inhabitants. The story goes that the city already was founded by the Phoenicians around 1100 f.Kr. and then called Gadir. In Roman times the city was known as Gades.
Gone through the strategic location of this place is often the center of the war. The city is over the centuries, including captured and sacked by the Visigoths, and by an army of English and Dutch.Napoleon wanted the city to conquer, but it has never succeeded.
Cadiz was in 1493, the town where Christopher Columbus left for his second voyage to the Americas. In the 19th century, Cádiz more than once at the heart of the revolutionary liberal movement in Spain, who fought against the conservative monarchy.

Finish location: Arcos de la Frontera

Arcos de la Frontera is a municipality located in the province of Cadiz. This municipality has over 30,000 inhabitants. In the Netherlands, the site of Arcos de la Frontera got some notoriety because the program was recorded Spanish dream NET5. In this program competed six Dutch couples choose to realize their dream: a Bed and Breakfast in Spain. Arcos de la Frontera is a beautiful place that is built into the rocks.

Route, schedule and preview

The third stage of the Vuelta is a hill scene. The finish on this stage is on a hill. This stage is 189.8 km long. The start is at 12u48. The finish is expected around 05:45.
There are quite a few short climbs out along the course of this journey. Four of them are considered the mountain classification. The four climb all belong to the third category. The first climb, the Alto del Picacho and climbed after 75 kilometers. The other is the Alto Alcornocales and climbed after 95 km. The third is the Alto del Camino, which climbed after 127(6) kilometers. This is a climb with a serious length: 15.6. However, the growth rate was only 3.8%, so this climb in the end just one third category climb. The fourth climb, which count towards the mountain jersey is Pto del Boyar after 143.6 kilometers. In between, there are also two intermediate sprints: after 119.8 km, after 139(2) kilometers. The finish of the ride is on a hill. However, it is not in the final kilometre climb as long and do not count towards the mountain classification.
