Cold Water Fishing

The material

For the fly, a cane 9 feet silk for the nymph 5/6 and 7/8 for the streamer.

An intermediate and floating silk after water levels can be used to derive the flies in the height of nutrition of fish. The tip of the bottom line to node will be at least 15 hundredths for the nymph and 18 hundredths for the streamer.

For OCD, a cane natural bait of 3.9 m minimum powerful but light. The lead are massive roll technique so expect to hang on and take what change our bottom line. The diameter of the main line is 16 hundredths minimum and we will not go down below the 14 cents even in clear water.

For decoys, we will favor a rod of power 3-12 minimum g and length of 1.8 m 2, 2 m. We can take more powerful if the need arises such as a 5-18 or 5-21g… Note that the choice of the reel is crucial because in the cold waters we animate slowly, its ratio * will be low – 4.8 to 5.2 and what are the sizes of 500 to 2500 that interest us (54 to 65 cm/PTP *).

For the Minnow rolled, a rod of 2 to 2.4 m is the ideal tool with a reel of low ratio for the same reasons explained above for fishing lures. Used nylon, as for fishing lures is at least one 18 hundredths and we will avoid the fine in case of frost braids because they become brittle.

The action of cold water fishing

If we were to summarize it in one word, this would invariably be this: SLOWLY. There is no more to remember that Word to understand the early season trout fishing defined on sportingology. Whatever fishing technique we choose the date ‘J’, we are sure to be right when we fish slowly and carefully positions. While in summer a pass is enough to pique a fish here, it can be after 10. It’s in depth where stands the fish that we have to take it!

The fishing action has to trace the activity of fish and this early in the season, it is rare the wild trout presents an unbridled activity. We must stress and hold key positions in the hot hours of the day as the sunny parts, the amortized along the branches and others held… Our derivatives must shave to the nearest caches, to allow time for a fish to be interested. All obstacles are likely to host a fish pending – branches, stones, sand bank – we cannot ignore. All the excesses carried out will be “retained”, “worn” and controlled to get to the right place. Our main obligation is to bring our bait trout by taking all the veins of water plus one in which case, we could abandon the only vein in the position in which the trout feeds. It’s a game of patience and perseverance but when we touch, can a fight, we quickly forget the time spent and satisfaction replaces the frustration.

Let’s enjoy

We just only to put in order our ideas and our hardware for the best start this new season of trout fishing in the river. It’s a day where all trout fishing makes sense, it’s the opening in March. Synonymous with a back to nature, a fun day for release winter stress, or simply a moment of conviviality between fishermen friends, the trout fishing delights many practitioners including me.
